Forget about lip injections, there are other ways to achieve fuller looking lips. Sure you can over line them, but those who really want to get that luscious look should instead consider applying a lip plumper.
Younique just released its first ever lip plumper much to the delight of those who are fans of the brand’s line of makeup. For those unfamiliar, Younique is a makeup company with products that includes foundation, eye shadows, lipsticks, creams and more (like its popular Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes mascara), with the products being vegan-friendly. Younquie makeup can be purchased from reps much like Avon or Mary Kay, where said reps earn commission (making it a great way to support business savvy women, friends and family looking to make extra money, or stay-at-home moms looking for something flexible).
I have tried a few of Younique products, so when I heard there was a lip plumper I just had to check it out.
Younique’s Moodstruck Hottie Lip Plumper is only available for the month of June or while supplies last, but unfortunately it is all sold out. So while you wait to see if there is a restock, you might be wondering if it’s even worth buying.
I’ve been using my Hottie Lip Plumper religiously to see if it lives up to its hype. Here’s my full review:
What Is In It?
Moodstruck Hottie Lip Plumper contains seven key ingredients to plump that pout. Among the ingredients include the collagen enhancers Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 i, as well as peppermint oil for a cooling effect, and Capsicum Frutenscens Resin, which provides “a sensorial plumping effect.”
How To Wear It?
It’s suggested to apply at night before bed so that it works its magic over night, as well as whenever you want during the day by itself or on top of your favorite lipstick or lip stain—applying as much as you see fit.
How It Looks?
First in foremost, this lip plumper is like a gloss. However, it is not sticky and does not dry out the lips at all. It is transparent, so when worn by itself just gives off a slick and “juicy” look.
I like to apply mine by itself when in the house, but also found it to complete my look by giving an extra ump to my lips while adding hydration to Kylie Jenner’s “I’m in Love with the Koko” matte in “Bunny” (which felt dry on my lips, although the others in the new Khloe collab collection don’t).
How It Feels
Those who have never tried a lip plumper before should be aware that most of them have a tingling sensation that may or may not “burn.” When it comes Younique’s Moodstruck Hottie lip plumper, the burning sensation might be too intense for those who are new to lip plumpers. It’s not painful, but there are a few seconds where your lips feel like they are on fire. It’s not super intense, but enough to be like, “um, my lips are on fire.”
For those who follow the motto beauty is pain—especially when it comes to plumping your pout—then you will probably tell yourself this is a good sign that it’s working.
I noticed that the more I used this product, the less the “burning” was even bothersome.
But once the fiery stage ends, comes cool down where your lips will feel chilled and minty. It’s a hard sensation to describe, but think of it as being iced down after your lips have been warmed up.
It’s at this stage where my lips really felt fuller and luscious. But while you might feel like your have a plumper look, you might pout when you look at yourself in mirror and don’t see Kylie Jenner lips looking back at you (for those with thinner lips). You will see a change, but don’t expect much.
So Should You Buy?
I have heard that Moodstuck Hottie has gotten mixed reviews. So is it really worth it?
I find myself addicting to reapplying this product A LOT. At first it was to see if it actually worked, and now because I do genuinely like it and like seeing the difference—even if it’s a smaller difference.
HOWEVER, I feel like I have to keep on reapplying for it work.
I wish I could see more of a dramatic plumping effect, but have to face it that my upper lip just isn’t that meaty.
I probably wouldn’t rush to pick up another once this one runs low, and rather am interested now in trying other lip plumpers to compare, but I still am going to use to it the very last drop.
