MARIN COUNTY, CA (PIX11) – Robin Williams was in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease when he died, wife Susan Schneider revealed in a statement.

Schneider also said that her husband was sober leading up to his death, “and was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression.”

She said Williams was not ready to share the news of his diagnosis publicly leading up to his death.

Robin Williams was found dead of an apparent suicide in his California home earlier this week.
